Article VIII. Professional Negotiations
The Association shall engage in professional negotiations with the Jefferson County Board of Education.

The members of the Professional Negotiations Team shall be ex-officio members of the Professional Negotiations Committee.

| Bylaw 8-2 |
The Professional Negotiation Team shall be responsible for handling all matters relating to negotiations with the Board of Education.
- It shall be through the team that all items to be negotiated shall be transmitted to the Board of Education.
- Once the scope and concept of any JCTA negotiations proposals have been developed by the appropriate committees, Representative Council, the Board of Directors, it shall be the responsibility of this committee to negotiate with the members of the Board of Education Committee and to conclude tentative agreements on said proposals.
- The team shall make periodic reports on negotiations to the Representative Council or general membership.
- Upon reaching tentative agreement on a negotiated package, the team shall submit its report and recommendation to the membership.
- Any and all agreements except in situation designated as a “crisis” by the Board of Directors, to be ratified, shall be by secret ballot of the JCTA members and such ratification shall not take place until the JCTA general membership shall have at least five (5) days to study such agreement.
