Section H: SBDM
Note: Items with legislative implications are highlighted in green.

H-1(ps) JCTA shall provide information regarding the SBDM process with emphasis on measures which protect members’ rights. Such efforts shall not be construed either as advocating that schools establish SBDM Councils, or as impeding the process for those schools that choose to do so. (9/94) (B)

H-2(ps) JCTA shall in no way deter a fully informed faculty from voting to be an SBDM school. JCTA stands ready to answer questions and assist teachers who are dealing with this issue. JCTA also urges any and all existing PM Council/Committees to include parents as active participants in the Council/Committee decision-making process. (11/94) (B)

H-3(ps) JCTA shall request copies of SBDM policies as they are proposed/adopted for legal, contractual review. (2/95) (B)

H-4(ps) JCTA shall take all steps possible to protect the JCTA/JCBE Contract when violated by any illegal SBDM policy. (2/95) (B)

H-5(ps) JCTA opposes any control by SBDM Councils of categorical funding. (5/95) (B)

H-6(ps) JCTA shall oppose any bill which would reduce the percentage representation of teachers on SBDM councils. (2/96) (B)

H-7(ps) JCTA believes SBDM Councils should not and do not have the authority to make a curricular decision which would lead to the transfer, lay-off, or termination of a teacher. (12/96) (B)

H-8(ps) JCTA supports the addition of an educational support professional representative on SBDM councils if an additional teacher is also added to maintain the percentage representation of teachers. (1/02) (B)
