This year’s FULL-OPEN Enrollment of the Sick Leave Bank is for ALL JCPS teachers (new teachers, previous teachers who joined years ago, members, non-members). This includes teachers who donated a sick day during the FULL-OPEN Enrollment in 2008. 

EVERYONE must join the Sick Leave Bank this year if they wish to be part of the Bank for the 2011-2012 school year. The last time there was a FULL-OPEN Enrollment was in 2008 {three (3) years ago}.

What to do: To be a member of the JCTA Sick Leave Bank, teachers must fill out the JCTA Sick Leave Bank Deposit Form and return all form(s) to their PR or to the JCTA office before 5:00pm, Friday, October 28, 2011. The signing of the deposit form means that the teacher is authorizing the deduction of one (1) sick leave day from the teacher’s accumulated sick days.

Due Date: The enrollment period will run from Monday, October 3, 2011 to Friday, October 28, 2011. JCTA Professional Representatives must return ALL deposit forms to the JCTA Office before 5:00 P.M., Friday, October 28, 2011. Late forms cannot be accepted after October 28, 2011.

A Little SLB History: In 1982, JCTA negotiated the first teacher Sick Leave Bank in the state. This bank is and has been very successful. It is the cheapest insurance you can buy. The JCTA Sick Leave Bank had a FULL-OPEN Enrollment in 2008 because the bank fell below 500 days. Part of the JCBE/JCTA Agreement states that whenever the JCTA Sick Leave Bank balance falls below 500 days there must be a FULL-OPEN Enrollment for the Bank. If you are a member or even a non-member you can join the JCTA Sick Leave Bank by contributing one (1) of your sick leave days using the deposit form. Remember you can’t buy car insurance after the car wreck, and you can’t join the bank after Friday, October 28, 2011.
