JCTA is excited to announce the 2008-2009 Martin Luther King Jr. Art and Essay contests. This year’s theme is “Using Our Voices to Transform the Future.” We are currently seeking student submissions for this annual contest to commemorate Dr. King. There are five scoring divisions for the essay contest (Primary, Intermediate, Middle, High, and ECE); and there are six divisions for the art contest (Pre-K, Primary, Intermediate, Middle, High, and ECE). Each winner will receive a $200 savings bond and a JCTA sponsored trip for their class to attend the Louisville Orchestra’s Martin Luther King Day Education Concert in January. JCTA Collects Items for Home of the Innocents
Staff and members of JCTA are working together to collect items for Home of the Innocents. Items can be dropped off at the JCTA office before 5:00 PM on Friday, December 5, 2008. Members may also bring items to the November 17 Professional Representative meeting at the UAW hall.
Home of the Innocents provides programs and services for the following children in crisis: medically fragile and terminally ill children; children who require emergency care due to abuse, abandonment, neglect or homelessness; children who need foster care; homeless, pregnant or parenting teens; and children with autism and special needs.
