·       Explore ways you can work to change the dynamics of social oppression

When Can I Afford to Retire?
February 9, 2017

When Can I Afford to Retire? No PD credit; snacks provided. Presented by NEA member Benefits Representative Guy Kendall-Freas, this workshop aims to increase members’ awareness of their retirement system, their pension payout options, health care costs and more. Participants will be able to determine if they are on the right track in their retirement preparations and, if not, what their options are, including sheltering severance pay and purchasable service credit options. An overview of how the Government Pension Offset and Windfall Elimination Provisions (GPO/WEP) affect social security will also be provided. Thursday, February 9, 4:30-6 p.m.

Wills, Trusts, and Nursing Home Asset Protection Seminar

Presented by Gersh Law Offices, this workshop will cover a number of issues, including how to:

·         Understand the advantages and disadvantages of Wills and Living Trusts

·         Maintain your privacy and protect your estate against a living probate if you become disabled

·         Plan before you need Long Term Care

·         Realize why putting property in children’s names may be a mistake

·         Protect your children’s inheritance from their future ex-spouses, lawsuits, and other claims

·         Preserve your estate for your children if your surviving spouse gets remarried

·         Understand “What is Probate?”

·         Learn about Medicaid eligibility to pay for nursing home expenses which can average $7,200 monthly

·         Provide for children and grandchildren with special needs.
