About ColorBraveJCPS: ColorBraveJCPS was founded in 2017 by Dr. Marcia Carmichael-Murphy, Dr. LaRhonda Mathies, and Dr. Erica Young, who collaborated on their U of L dissertation studying the disproportionate discipline of Black girls in public schools and school principals’ roles in culturally responsive PBIS in urban, public education. Their findings highlight the importance of strengths-based approaches and racialized dialogues in education, with an intentional focus on amplifying the voices of Black girls.
