JCTA’s HCR/Racial Justice Subcommittee is hosting a virtual panel discussion about culturally responsive school leadership and the disproportionate discipline of Black girls in public schools.

Join JCTA HCR/RJ Subcommittee Chair Katie Punsly as moderator with ColorBraveJCPS panelists Dr. Marcia Carmichael-Murphy, Dr. LaRhonda Mathies, and Dr. Erica Young for an evening of robust discussion.

About ColorBraveJCPS: ColorBraveJCPS was founded in 2017 by Dr. Marcia Carmichael-Murphy, Dr. LaRhonda Mathies, and Dr. Erica Young, who collaborated on their U of L dissertation studying the disproportionate discipline of Black girls in public schools and school principals’ roles in culturally responsive PBIS in urban, public education. Their findings highlight the importance of strengths-based approaches and racialized dialogues in education, with an intentional focus on amplifying the voices of Black girls.

Three hours PD credit; dinner provided.  New SBDM council members must attend both sessions (Part 1 nad 2) to satisfy new council member training requirement; returning council members may attend just one session or may choose to attend the advanced SBDM session.  Part 2, Monday, September 23, 4:30-7:30 p.m.
