Changes to Cost of Living Adjustments (COLA) Calculator

The COLA Suspension Calculator calculates your total losses over the course of your expected lifetime as a result of having the cost-of-living adjustment suspended for five years at the beginning of your retirement.  The following calculator is written in Microsoft Excel and is required for use:

James joined the JCTA staff in 2009. Prior to that, he was a teacher in Jefferson County and a member of JCTA for six years. During that time he served as a KEA Board member, JCTA Board member and KEA Diversity Work Team member. James was also appointed by the Governor to serve on the Education Professional Standards Board. In 2013 James moved into the Deputy Executive Director position at JCTA. He works with the staff in addressing the day to day operations of JCTA. He’s involved in JCTA’s advocacy, organizing, political and training work and initiatives. James supports the Executive Director and president of JCTA in carrying out JCTA’s mission and vision.

Chanda joined the JCTA staff in 2008. After graduating from Murray State University with a bachelor's degree in elementary education and an additional certification in middle school English and Social Studies, Chanda taught 6th grade social studies for three years in Hardin County. Chanda then spent two additional years working at the same middle school as the library media specialist after receiving her master's degree in Library and Information Sciences from Texas Woman's University. Chanda writes the ACTION newsletter, sends out member emails and works with the Social Affairs Committee. She works with the Librarians and Early Childhood Education Caucuses. Chanda is also an endorsed School-Based Decision Making (SBDM) trainer.
